Case Study: Carnegie Mellon University Radon Mitigation in Pittsburgh
Our team at Home Radon Pros has completed dozens of commercial projects. From Radon testing in schools such as Penn Trafford, to installing 18 Radon remediation systems in a massive apartment complex, to testing and mitigation +70 homes a year through the Urban Redevelopment Authority, we have seen, and mitigated it all.
One project in particular that we completed in 2025 was the mitigation of school buildings for Carnegie Mellon University:

Problem: two Carnegie Mellon university buildings tested over 20.0 pCi/L in the summer months. These buildings housed students during the year and the university did not want their students being impacted by the dangers of radon gas while trying to learn. These large 20,000 sq ft buildings had thick concrete footers; making mitigation a difficult task

Solution: Our team designed complex remediation systems that would not jeopardize the aesthetic of the university's buildings while achieving a low radon level. We core drilled through several feet of concrete, dug down deep underneath the ground to hide the external piping, chose an interior location that was not impacting the buildings function, and cleanly exhausted the venting over the roofline. Using Festa Brand Legend Extreme Radon fans to pull the Radon out from underneath the building.

Result: The team was able to complete the systems within four days and the buildings both tested at <.3 pCi/L, the lowest reading possible with an activated charcoal radon test. Both the staff and the student body were satisfied that everyone was safe from the efforts of our team at Home Radon Pros
